In 2024, IEEE conferences highlighted groundbreaking research and emerging technologies, reflecting the organization’s unwavering dedication to fostering innovation, exploration and collaboration across the global technical community.
The IEEE Jamaica Section hosted a workshop at the University of Technology, Jamaica, focused on expanding access to quality engineering opportunities in the country. The event attracted over 200 participants, including local IEEE members, high school and college students and representatives from academia, industry and government—including the Minister of Education.
At CES 2024, IEEE members from industry and academia participated in a panel discussion on how the evolving tech landscape is reshaping the professional world and how educational institutions can prepare students to succeed. IEEE President-elect Kathleen Kramer highlighted that IEEE established the world’s first engineering ethics code in 1912 and has since been at the forefront of updating ethics considerations in engineering, computer science and the emerging field of AI ethics.
