IEEE Quantum Week Discusses Technologies of the Future (Montreal, Canada)

IEEE Quantum Week bridged the gap between quantum computing science and the industry emerging around it. Over 10 IEEE societies and groups collaborated to deliver live exhibits, world-class keynote speakers, technical papers, community-building workshops and engaging panels examining the latest advancements. 

IEEE Jamaica Section Hosts Workshop on Engineering Opportunities

The IEEE Jamaica Section hosted a workshop at the University of Technology, Jamaica, focused on expanding access to quality engineering opportunities in the country. The event attracted over 200 participants, including local IEEE members, high school and college students and representatives from academia, industry and government—including the Minister of Education.

Exploring AI’s Impact on the Future of Work

At CES 2024, IEEE members from industry and academia participated in a panel discussion on how the evolving tech landscape is reshaping the professional world and how educational institutions can prepare students to succeed. IEEE President-elect Kathleen Kramer highlighted that IEEE established the world’s first engineering ethics code in 1912 and has since been at the forefront of updating ethics considerations in engineering, computer science and the emerging field of AI ethics.

IEEE Standards Association Earns Accreditation from the Standards Council of Canada

The IEEE Standards Association’s (IEEE SA) entry into the Standards Council of Canada’s (SCC) network of accredited standards development organizations (SDO) initiated a collaboration to deliver global standards and related solutions to better serve the needs of customers, organizations and policymakers in Canada. As an SCC-accredited SDO, IEEE SA can submit IEEE standards to SCC for adoption as National Standards of Canada. Standards help ensure that the technology society relies on functions safely, securely and sustainably.
